Surname: Kinjerski, Kendziorski, Kinjersky, Kendzierski, Kinjersky
I've started the family tree for my husbands side of the family. His grandfather is a Kinjerski. His dad was Iadore Kinjerski, his father was Lawrence Kinjerski. The original spelling was Kendzierski. I found his citizenship papers form 1893 they list him being born in Kalisz, Poland. Hope this can help a little bit with Kendzierski search. Lawrence was born in 1858, came to America in 3-23-88.

bodies interred in Cedar Grove, the identities of more than 600 are unknown, the result of
lost or destroyed records and the short-sighted 19th century funerary practice of marking
graves with iron crosses on which names of the deceased were painted!

The name Knedzior in Polis means "curly hair". Most of the Kendziors imigrated from Southern Poland between 1890 and 1920, mostly because they lost their farms to their landlords. My grandfather immigrated from Galacia which at the time was part of Austria. If you go to www.ellisislandrecords.org you will find an entry for a Pietro Kendzior who at the age of 24, immigrated to the US from Tarnow Poland in 1899. Good luck on your search!
Just want to share with you the success that I had in November with Church Records. Using the Burial Register, Marriage Register, and Baptismal Registers for St. Hedwig Church I was able to identify our Great Grandfather's parents and some siblings.
Our Great-Great Grandfather and Grandmother (Paul and Katherine) are buried in Cedar Grove. Their graves are marked (take the center isle just past the first intersecting isle ... their graves are directly adjacent to the road on the right approx. the 5th row past the intersection). Their lot is a 4 grave lot but Cedar Grove records only indicate 2 graves - so I wonder is Joseph and Rose might be buried in the 2 unmarked graves.
The obit for Joseph's sister Antonina indicates that she arrived in South Bend about 1870 (don't remember for sure I gave you a copy of her obit in Nov. it under the name Antonina Luzny).
I'm hoping to return for a day or so to rescour the church records between Christmas and New Years as my company has a shutdown period then. I'll provide you with my supporting documents for this stuff when I get a chance.
